As we approach the year 2022 with great awe and horror (at least for me), one cannot help but notice the explosion of jewelry/fashion hybrid designs in the last decade.
From y2k crystal accessories to avant- garde sculptural concepts, body jewelry is the new direction taken by your wildest couture dreams.
Let’s explore the 4 ways in which body jewelry is currently used in the fashion industry.
1. THE MAIN EVENT
No one needs to be reminded of Rihanna’s Swarovski looks because it will go down in history. Here’s another timeless example of gorgeous Selma Heyak in the Emanuel Ungaro Crystal butterfly halter top replicated by many brands today.

The center piece is the shine of the crystal dress/top & skin is the main accessory.
2. THE PERFECT SPRINKLE
A stunning outfit without a body jewelry accent is like a spice mishap on a potentially scrumptious meal. The idea is there but where’s the flavor? Versace knows that and added body chains stopping at different lengths on all of their models for the past decades in several runaways.

3. THE DEFIANT PIECE
If say it with your chest was a human I would be a body jewelry wearing one. Jewelry has always been a tool to illuminate the hidden parts of the self, figurative and literal. Pick pieces that resonate with your soul and do not worry about anything else.
Body jewelry not only can but has been worn by men for ages. Versace is back at it with its own twist on things.

4. THE GREAT HYBRID
Nothing beats a 2 in 1 godly jewelry piece. Functional enough to double as an active part of the outfit, but still oddly striking as a frivolous fantasy, these pieces can generally be worn timelessly & in ways unique to the wearer.
Schiaparelli’s gilded brass necklace + black dress combo on Bella Hadid is a sublime take on the hybrid fashion look.

ODD TAKE: my middle eastern baddies would eat this look up. Strong Dubai & Saudia vibes.
