Agrodolce is the world of color but that doesn’t mean things aren’t supposed to get dark from time to time. Although tough times are a part of life, we still want you to go through them as easily and as gracefully as you can. When life gets tough and things feel like they’ll never change, here are 10 ways to help you get out of the darkness:
1. KNOW THINGS WILL CHANGE
It won’t always be like this. Think back to a time you thought you’d never get over something and still did. When we are going through it, we tend to lose sight of the big picture. Take a step back, and start with that certitude first.
2. RETRAIN YOUR BRAIN
Congratulations to you on making one of the sure steps towards bettering your life: reading. Reading opens you up to new ways of thinking, your next genius idea that’ll take you to the next level. It’ll remind you about the wonders of the world, bigger than you. You never know which quote will stick with you for for the rest of your life. Open up a book and let it surprise you.
3. WORK OUT
There are two ways to convince yourself you can transform: you can transform your mind or transform your body which will in turn transform your mind. Far from being shallow, exercise is healing. Plus better to be depressed and cute.
4. WRITE IT ALL OUT
Dump everything on paper, get it out, organize it. Come up with a plan. Remember: no one is ever watching over your shoulder, you are free in your mind. Looking at your writings is a great reminder of that power no one can ever take away from you.
5. MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR PAST
Old things weigh you down. If there is something to be done do it, if there is nothing to be done have the courage to recognize it and move on. These moments you’re currently living will become the past, spend them bettering yourself.
6. CARE ABOUT YOURSELF FIRST
What do you want? So much of the sadness in our lives comes from inauthenticity, with others but mainly with ourselves. Isolate yourself and take time to think clearly and freely about what you want out of your relationships, you work, your life. That is the first form of self love.
7. BE RESILIENT
Stop giving up after every try and accept failure as part of the process. It would not be normal or gratifying to make it at every attempt. Great success wouldn’t be relevant if it was all so easy.
8. CLEAR UP YOUR SPACE
Take a time off to clean your living space & keep a note-pad close by. You'd be surprised at all the great ideas that comes to you when you clear up your space and your head.
9. NETFLIX AND CHILLL
Take the time off on your couch with Netflix or anything else that works for you. You deserve time off and as much as you need. Time you chose wasting is never time wasted. Just like you shouldn’t compare work to your peers, don’t compare the leisure, maybe you need more. It doesn’t make you lazy. Just be honest with yourself and don't slip...
10. KEEP GOING AND TRUST YOURSELF
Slow down and breathe. Direction is more important than speed. Spend some down time clarifying your vision to save valuable time down the road and take all the time you need to make it there in sanity. Most importantly, trust yourself in knowing you can and will make it there.
